Οι εικόνες δείχνουν την ακτοφυλακή της Κίνας να χρησιμοποιεί πολύ πιο επιθετικές τακτικές.
Σε βίντεο που τραβήχτηκαν από κινητά τηλέφωνα από προσωπικό των Φιλιππίνων, Κινέζοι στρατιώτες φαίνεται να εμβολίζουν τα δύο φιλιππινέζικα σκάφη, να αφαιρούν βίαια το φορτίο τους, να απειλούν το πλήρωμα με τσεκούρια και μαχαίρια και να τα ρυμουλκούν μακριά.
